Episode 78: From the Archives: Addressing Racial Justice in the 1980’s
In this episode, Alli and Jasree bring in ECCT's Archivist, Greg Farr, to take a look back as to how ECCT has addressed the sin of systemic racism in the church, particularly back in the 1980s.
We focused on Greg's process of archival discovery, the relationship between two previous diocesan bishops, the Episcopal Society for Cultural and Racial Unity (ESCRU), a 1987 report from the Task Force on Racism, and the 2019 Convention Report on the Season of Racial Healing, Justice, and Reconciliation. We root our conversation in the now, looking at what our responsibility is, as Christians, to combat the sin of racism. Interested in learning more?
